How to get BI Query Data and Populate table in CRM

Hi Gurus,

I'm working on a project where we have a requirement where basically some BI Report related data needs to be loaded in some CRM Z tables.

My knowledge about BI and possible options we have in order to achieve this is quite limited, so wondering if anybody has done something similar in the past and if my approach sounds correct.

The idea would be creating a program in CRM that would connect to BI, invoke a query there with some paramenters, get the data back, apply the required logic and fill in the Z tables with the required info in CRM

I came acroos the following link, my understanding is that what's described there is something similar to what we want to achieve, but it mentions APDs for example, and I'm not familiar with this

How to call BI infocube / query in ABAP

Any advice on this would be much appreciated.
